Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mundali Cuttack (also JNV Mundali or JNV Cuttack) is a government residential school located in Mundali village, of Baranga block in Cuttack district with a doctrine goal to provide good quality modern education to talented children predominantly from the rural areas and economically challenged families. It is established and managed by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Department of Secondary Education and Higher Education.

In accordance with the National Policy on Education (1986) of Government of India, this Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Mundali, in the District of Cuttack is one of top schools in the district for its achievements in academics and its excellence sports, co-curricular, cultural activities, social service toward local society and much more.

History

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme was started during the year 1985-86 and is managed by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.

As part of the programme of action of the new education policy, 1986, Govt. of India launched the scheme under the pioneer of Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, the then-prime minister of India to set up Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in all the districts of the country to provide opportunities to children with special talents to proceed at a faster pace by making quality education available to them irrespective of their capacity to pay for it.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mundali was started on 1986. First JNV established in Odisha.

School emblem, motto, song and prayer

In the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya emblem, the sunrise symbolises Navodaya, two black heads are the symbol of the Navodaya Vidyalaya samiti giving protection, three white heads symbolise its students, books/TV/computer indicate means of excellence in modern education, plants and lines represent rural background, corn locks symbolise national integration and peace.

The school motto is Pragyanam Brahma (Knowledge Is Divine).

Summer vacations is of two months in May–June and autumn vacations (Durga Puja, Diwali) is about one month in October.
