Janelle Kirtley Godfrey (born December 8, 1943) is an American former World Champion water skier. She is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and gained the Award of Distinction from the Water Ski Hall of Fame in 2001. In 1960 she won overall in the Masters Water Ski Tournament. She won the World Championship in the 1961 World Tournament Women’s Slalom Title and the 1963 Tricks and Slalom.

She learned how to water ski at the age of 5, with the help of her parents, Leona and Robert H Kirtley. She is a mother of three with 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

As a young girl, at 12 years old, she received a sportsmanship award for competing against older women water ski competitors. She received these pair of Hydro-Flight Stepper skis as seen in the photo on the right in Panama City, Florida.
