Jan Kazimierz Wilczynski

Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński or Jonas Kazimieras Vilčinskis (1806–1885) was a Lithuanian and Polish medical doctor, collector and publisher. He was known for publishing the "Album de Wilna" (Polish: Album Wileńskie).

Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński was born in Jasonys near Utena. 1824-1827 he studied at Vilnius Academy, 182-1831 in Paris, later finished Vilnius medical-surgery Academy. Had a medical practice in Warsaw and Vilnius.

He was known as art and numismatic collector, was a member of St. Petersburg and Vilnius archaeological commissions. Since 1846 in Paris started printing Album de Wilna. The album consists of 364 lythographies, chromlythographies and carvings.

Wilczyński also published the Vilna Archeological Museum album, albums of Warsaw and Kiev and other books.

He died in Vilnius and is buried at the Rasos Cemetery.

According to the information, published in 1908 by his nephew, historian and archaeologist Algirdas Vilčinskas (Vilčinskis), Jan Kazimierz Wilczyński spoke exclusively Lithuanian at home.
