Jamil Smith (born 1975) is senior national correspondent for MTV News.

Previously Smith was senior editor at The New Republic, joining after Chris Hughes purchased the magazine in 2015. At The New Republic, Smith also hosted a podcast called Intersection. Previously, Smith had been a producer for MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry and The Rachel Maddow Show. He's drawn notice for commentary on topics like policing and politics. Naming Smith to its 2015 Root 100 list of top black influencers, The Root said Smith "hits on cultural touch points from campus rape to the Rev. Al Sharpton, banging out a nice mix of opinion, headlines and original reporting."

At MTV, Smith hosts a digital series on politics called "The Racket."

Smith attended the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in New York.
