For many years, the primary tenant had been Reed Smith law firm.

In October 2008, the building was purchased by Michael Kamen and Gerson Fox (under the name 600 William Penn Partners LLC), who purchased the nearby Union Trust Building at the same time, for $6.5 million. In 2009, Reed Smith law firm moved operations to Three PNC Plaza. This triggered the eventual bankruptcy.

A 249 room Hotel Monaco is scheduled to open in the building by the summer of 2014.
