James Evans (Utah politician)

James Evans was elected chairman of the Utah Republican Party in 2013, the first African-American to serve. Evans previously served as the first African-American Utah State Senator. He represented a Salt Lake County district in the state senate.

Evans served in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of captain. He owns a payday lending franchise, Chekline.
