James Baird (born 25 May 1983) is a Scottish football goalkeeper who has been playing professionally for several years.

Club

After moving between a number of Scottish clubs, including Alloa Athletic, Faroese clubs and Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League club Tobago United. He joined in May 2017 to Iceland to sign with Snæfell/UDN.

International

Baird made four appearances for Scotland U17 in 2001 and 2002.

as Coach/Manager

He also trained with the British Virgin Islands national football team and played for the under 23's in a small local tournament but after eligibility problems, decided against representing the senior side. There has been rumours of a return in 2016 for the Caribbean cup. James is also the Technical Director and goalkeeper for the West Indies Football Association.

All throughout James career he has also coached whilst playing , as a young player helping out with his hometown club Broxburn Colts goalkeepers to working with Coerver as Gk coach. His first real coaching role was with MB1905 ladies team where he coached whilst playing for the club, The team did well getting promotion to the top woman's division. James has also coached T&T Highlanders, The West Indies National team and Guaya United in the Trinidad and Tobago Super league.

Personal life

James now Resides in Trinidad with his wife and family and has just welcomed the arrival of his son Broden Santiago Baird.

Baird was a member of the Global United charity team, which plays matches all over the world to bring awareness to global warming, in 2009 they had matches in Germany and participated in a tour during the 2010 world cup.

He also owns and runs his own football team and academy called Trinidad and Tobago Highlanders.

James also does Media work with Local Trinidad and Tobago station WI Sports and commentates on local football matches. During the 2014 World cup James was the TV 6 Morning Edition expert and regularly gave his thoughts on many of the matches.

James also works with Zoop goalkeeping gloves supplying the Caribbean with the Brand.
