Jamal Wilson (born January 3, 1993) is an American football running back for the UMass Minutemen.

Early years

Before UMass: Captained the No. 1 high school team in the nation, St. Thomas Aquinas, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.,as a senior. The team captured Florida 5A State Championship with a 15-0 record in 2010. St. Thomas Aquinas went 43-1 during Wilson's three years. He was named second-team by the Florida Sun-Sentinel. Rushed for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns with 6.4 per carry average as a senior. Also made 20 catches for 293 yards with four receiving scores during his final season.

College career

As a Freshman in 2011, Wilson redshirted the year to enter 2012 with four seasons of eligibility remaining. In 2012 he played in 12 games, in between special teams and the UMass backfield. As a Sophomore in 2013, he ran for a team-best 368 yards on 100 carries (3.7 yards per carry) scored one touchdown, also had 106 receiving yards on 14 catches: third-most all-purpose yards on team (475) Recorded one kickoff return. Was on the kick return unit at No. 23 Wisconsin (8/31) Also saw the field as part of the special teams unit in addition to playing as part of multiple offensive packages against Maine (9/7) Carried the ball once and fielded a kick return at Kansas State (9/14) Totaled 15 rushing yards and 14 receiving yards against Vanderbilt (9/21) Set single-game career-highs in carries (20), rushing yards (119) and longest run (51 yards) at Bowling Green (10/5) in his first collegiate start. Wilson started at running back and accumulated 146 total yards in the win over Miami (Ohio) on Oct. 12, the most among all competitors on the day. Had 82 yards rushing and a single-game career best 64 receiving yards against the Red Hawks defense. Rushed for 42 yards and caught three passes totaling nine yards at Buffalo (10/19) Earned his first collegiate touchdown on a three-yard run against Western Michigan (10/26) Did not compete against No. 17/21 Northern Illinois (11/2) due to injury and rushed for 70 yards on 22 carries against Akron (11/16). As a Junior in 2014, Wilson played and started three games at running back before suffering a season-ending injury. He earned 88 yards on 20 attempts (4.4 ypr) with one touchdown. Rushed six times for 23 yards (3.8 per carry) in the season-opener against Boston College (8/30). Ran 10 times for 47 yards (4.7 per carry) with one touchdown and hauled in two receptions for nine yards against the Colorado defense (9/6). Recorded 18 yards on four carries (4.5 yards per rush) before exiting with an injury at Vanderbilt (9/13). Misses the final nine games due to injury.
