Career

Simon Gabor’s, aka JADE’s name is known in the neurofunk genre - he has been making waves in the drum and bass scene since the early 2000s, leaving his mark on labels like Black Sun Empire Recordings (2004) and Moving Shadow (2008).

Before the turn of the millennial Jade has bought himself a record player and started practicing at home to become a DJ but he soon put the discs on hold and started to produce his own music. At the beginning of his music-making years he has uploaded his early tracks anonymously to an online column called "Music To Your Ears" where the drum and bass producer, SKC took an interest in his work and helped Jade along his way with constructive comments and instructions. In addition to the help he’s got from SKC, he also had the chance to spend a private studio session with Chris.SU which gave him another boost in producing his own music.

After his first release at Black Sun Empire Recordings his career has started to take off and since then 50 different tracks of his have been published by 15 different record labels and have been pressed on vinyl as well. It was through his early releases that Jade pioneered the emerging sound known as "neurofunk", which was still finding its identity back then.

Jade's unique and aggressive style put him amongst drum & bass's finest producers, touring Europe and South America as one of Hungary's sought after drum and bass DJs and producers alongside SKC and Chris.SU. Tracks like "Got Lost" with frequent collaborator Matt-U and "Unexist" exemplify Jade's early sound. In 2009 Jade released his debut album - Venom LP on Citrus Recordings - a powerful mission statement from the producer, which delivered the "Budapest sound" to the world. Tracks like "No Cure" and the eponymous "Venom" featuring RymeTyme helped define the neurofunk genre.

In 2011 Jade took his next step toward global recognition, with the establishment of his own label EATBRAIN - a forward thinking imprint standing at the crux of heavy dancefloor rhythms and the razors edge of drum & bass. With the direction of Jade, Eatbrain has quickly grown into a global movement within the drum & bass community with the support of the genre's finest. In just a few short years, Eatbrain has released music from heavyweights like Mefjus, Mindscape, Black Sun Empire, State of Mind, and Neonlight, while supporting the rise of newcomers such as NickBee and Teddy Killerz.
