JDS Harukaze (春風, "Spring Wind") was the lead ship in her class of anti-submarine ships, and the first destroyer of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force to be built in Japan since the end of World War II.

Ship history

The ship was laid down at the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki on 15 December 1954, launched on 20 September 1955 and commissioned on 26 April 1956 with the hull number "DD-101". She was reclassified as an auxiliary vessel and renumbered "ASU-7002" on 27 March 1981, before being finally decommissioned on 5 March 1985.
