Jons Budde

Jöns Budde (sometimes written Joens Budde) (about 1435 – 1495) was a Brigittine monk from the Brigittine monastery in Naantali (Vallis Gratiae) – near Turku, Finland (at the time part of the Sweden) – who lived in the 15th century.

Jöns Budde chiefly translated from Latin to Swedish, but he also wrote a few things of his own. Budde's works included the translation of whole books of the Bible into Swedish. He is the earliest writer known to have translated parts of the Bible into Swedish.

No evidence of the literary work carried on in the Dominican and Franciscan monasteries in Finland has been preserved.
