Israel Israeli (Hebrew: ישראל ישראלי, Yisrael Yisraeli) is a placeholder name used in Israel in much the same manner as John Doe in the United States or Joe Bloggs in the United Kingdom.

The term "Ploni Almoni" (Hebrew: פְּלֹנִי אַלְמֹנִי) finds common use in Israel as a stand-in name, similar to John Doe in the United States. The term is taken from the Hebrew text of the Book of Ruth. Specifically this phrase is found in Ruth 4:1 where it is used euphemistically to refer to a relative of Boaz. (The actual name of Boaz's relative is not used because the individual in question had failed to carry out a religious duty.)
