Ismail Mire International Airport

Ismail Mire International Airport is located in Buuhoodle, Somaliland. It is named after the poet and soldier Ismail Mire.

The building of the airport started in 2012 and was completed in March 2014. The first aircraft that landed the airport was Cessna Caravan on 10 April 2014. The plane carried an honorable delegation led by the former president of Khatumo State of Somalia, H. Mohamed Yousef Jama (Indhasheel).

The starting length of the runway is 800m with 50m in width(2625 ft x 164 ft). The airport is expected to be expanded and paved with asphalt to serve medium to long range aircraft. The facility was funded by the local community as well as Somalis in the region with Khatumo women in diaspora well contributed.
