Ishita Roy is the current Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resource Development for Higher education. She took office on 15 March 2016.
Prior to this, Roy had previously served as CEO & Member Secretary of the Central Silk Board of India in Bangalore since 2 September 2011, which is under the purview of the Indian Ministry of Textiles.
Roy has served as the Secretary-General of the International Sericulture Commission (ISC), an inter-governmental organisation of silk producing countries. Roy was elected to the secretary post in the ISC election held at Cluj Napoca, Romania, on 12 September 2012.
She is the former Indian Administrative Service of the 1991 Kerala cadre batch.
