Ise Morssing

Louise "Ise" Morssing (born 1878 in Östersund - died 1969 in Stockholm) was a Swedish visual artist, sculpture, scenographer and theater director. She was the daughter of major J. G. Lilliesköld and Marie-Louise Didron. She studied at Konstakademien in Stockholm between 1901 and 1904. After that she did study travels to Denmark, Germany, Austria, France and England. In 1904 she married architect Gunnar Morssing, a part-owner of the architect firm Höög & Morssing that did about 140 building in the Stockholm area. Ise Morssing worked within several different fields, amongst them as a visual artist and sculpture, she painted landscapes in watercolour and oil paint. She sculptured portraits and worked with decorative reliefer in several buildings and the drawings for the buildingd was made by her husband Gunnar Morssing. Amongst her work is the entré to Karlavägen 11 were she in 1912 did several wooden sculptures and a decorative magpie bird for the upper floor of the building.

She had her own studio in Paris were she created stage costumes, amongst her work was costumes for dans artist Birgit Åkesson. In Stockholm she had her studio at the highest floor at Strandvägen 3 were she along with a friend ran a croqui school. In 1953 she started the Marsyasteatern at Österlånggatan 13 at Gamla stan.
