Iota Reticuli

Iota Reticuli (Iota Ret, ι Reticuli, ι Ret) is an orange K-type giant with an apparent magnitude of +4.97. It is approximately 331 light years from Earth.

Iota Reticuli is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 80.9 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 12,300 and 25,100 light years from the center of the Galaxy.

Iota Reticuli came closest to the Sun 883,000 years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 4.08 from a distance of 212 light years.
