ionGrid was a Mountain View, California-based privately funded business software company founded in 2010 by former NVIDIA executives Nick Triantos, Ben de Waal, Gary King, and Michael Rothrock. On February 13, NetApp announced the acquisition of the company. Angel investors include Simon Crosby, CTO of Bromium and founder and former CTO of XenSource, now part of Citrix; and Nigel Stokes, chairman of AppZero and former CEO of DataMirror, acquired by IBM in 2007.

Product

Nexus Enterprise, was initially released in November 2011. In December 2012 Nexus was renamed as Stratos.

Stratos is a client/server secure document access and collaboration application for use with mobile devices. The Stratos client is designed to establish a secure connection with the server component which is deployed behind a data center firewall, without using a VPN connection. Stratos assigned policies to Active Directory groups to allow authorized users to access, view, and annotate business documents. It also provides a built-in HTML5 web browser to access intranet hosted corporate applications. Stratos currently supports Apple iOS-based mobile devices only, an Android client is under development.

Stratos is available as a free personal edition and enterprise edition.
