Infamous is a new sci-fi web series that is highly influenced by the story structure, style, and classic themes of comic books. Visualized and created by Joey Barto and Greg Washington, the concept of a dark comic book world is explored through an ensemble cast. Infamous premiered on the web on February 20, 2010 on the production’s official website and video hosted on YouTube. On March 8, 2010, Infamous partnered with KoldCast.TV and now primarily host their weekly episodes there, airing Mondays. With little to no budget, Infamous is shot and produced independently in Shreveport, LA by a handful of members in the growing Shreveport Film Community. The production team includes Greg Washington and Elizabeth Tracy who are also single parents, Joey Barto, an ambitious first time writer/director, contributions from Fairfield Studios in Shreveport, in association with Newborn Productions, Crain Video, Broken Lock Productions, The Highland Street Collective, and a group of creative actors working for an independent, unfunded web series. All actors involved work as crew, production, post-production, and marketing.

Beginnings

The series was co-created by Joey Barto and Greg Washington. The two wanted to make a show that was a dark, anti-hero, comic book story. They desired to make their own flawed characters and story, without the pressures of a major studio to take it in a family-oriented direction. Taking heavy influences from comic books, video games, and the personalities of the actors themselves, Infamous was born.

Story

Waking up in a strange tenement building, filled with equally strange residents, co-creator Washington stars as the main character, known only as John. John has no memory of his life before this, and is quickly discovering frighteningly powerful abilities that may be both clues to his past, and the reason for his amnesia. Elizabeth Tracy stars as Morgan, a mysterious character out for revenge. John constantly questions why he has woken up in the apartment of Palmer, played by James Palmer, a nice enough guy, who happens to be a trained medic… and can apparently communicate with computer chips. Rounding out the cast, John Chambers plays the eerie Solomon… who is he, and why does he seem to know more than he’s letting on? All of these questions demand an answer for John, and fast. But, what will happen when they are answered?

Infamous entertains the theme of the anti-hero; human beings with special powers, who are just as flawed as anyone else. It’s dark and gritty, and contemplates the idea of the grey area between good and evil.
