Indukantha Ghritha (IG) is an Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation consisting of 17 plant components widely prescribed by ayurvedic physicians in India for various ailments. For the first time, scientific evidence of IG in cancer treatment as an adjuvant to chemotherapy using pre-clinical models has been investigated by researchers at Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, India. IG reversed cyclophosphamide-induced myelosuppression in tumor-bearing animals and enhanced survival rate. IG has the potential for its usage in several immuno-suppressed conditions and patients suffering from leucopenia as a consequence of cancer chemotherapy. IG is also effective against recurrent upper respiratory infections (RURI) by providing symptomatic relief and functioning as a potent immunostimulator inducing type 1 and decreasing type 2 immune responses.
