Inch or The Inch is a populated area of Edinburgh, Scotland, located south of Inch Park in the south of the city.

Inch House

The area grew around Inch House, a Scottish vernacular tower house dating from 1617. It is a category A listed building. The Inch Park now surrounding it was its former garden grounds.

Its former residents include Sir Robert Gilmour, 1st Baronet who greatly extended and remodelled the house in the 1890s.

The house was sold to Edinburgh Corporation in 1946 and served for twenty years as a primary school. It remains in Council ownership and the grounds provide the main nursery beds for Council plants within the city parks and green-spaces.
