Ignasi Aballí (born in 1958) is a Spanish artist. He is one of Spain's well known conceptual innovators.

Biography and works

Aballí boasted, in a traditional way, as a painter, but soon abandoned this path in search techniques better suited to his queries. Sometimes artisan, sometimes with technical means, Aballí working on essential topics such as color, void, transparency and the trivial from the everyday. He is regularly invited to participations in biennials (Venice, Gwangju, Sydney). He was honored in the fall of 2015 with a retrospective of the last 10 years of his work at the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. A traveling exhibition on the period 1995-2015 was well in Barcelona (Spain) at the MACBA, Ikon Gallery shown in Birmingham (UK), and the ZKM Karlsruhe (Germany). In 2015, his work was shown at the Kunsthalle Mulhouse (France), in the Nordenhake Gallery, Berlin (Germany) at the Museo Lazaro Galliano, in Madrid (Spain), the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Paris (France), and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Russia). Additionally, Aballí received the prestigious Joan Miró prize in 2015.
