Mrs. Luvsandanzan Ider was born in March 1937 and served Mongolia as a diplomat from 1963 until 1992. She was a first woman in her country to be endowed with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. From 1972 Ms Ider was a member on various UN committees and other international organisations. Ms Ider chaired the UN Commission for Social Development (1985) and was the first Chair of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (1982-1988).
