Iat is an Ancient Egyptian minor goddess of milk and, by association, of nurturing and childbirth.
Etymology
The name of the goddess resembles iatet which is Egyptian word for "milk". Very little is known about the goddess since she is seldom mentioned in ancient Egyptian texts. Some mention of Iat can be found in the Pyramid Texts such as where a king declares, "My foster-mother is Iat, and it is she who nourishes me, it is indeed she who bore me".
