Ian Potter ( (1958-08-06) 6 August 1958 ) born in St. Helens, is an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s, and 1980s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and England and at club level for Warrington, Leigh (two periods), and Wigan as a second-row, or loose forward/lock, i.e. number 11 or 12, or 13.

Potter won caps for England while at Warrington in 1981 against France, and Wales, played second-row in Great Britain's 7-8 defeat by France in the friendly at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo, Venice on Saturday 31 July 1982, and won caps for Great Britain while at Wigan in 1985 against New Zealand (3 matches), and in 1986 against France (2 matches), Australia (2 matches), and Australia (sub).
