The hospital started as a small operating unit with just 8 beds for Laparoscopic Surgeries. The abbreviation ILS stands for the Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery and was founded by Dr. Om Tantia. Today, ILS Hospitals has become one of the biggest hospitals in Kolkata with more than 80 beds for patients. The headquarters of ILS Hospitals is situated in Salt Lake, Kolkata and by 2014 this organization was able to open a new center in Agartala, Tripura along with a local center in Dumdum, Kolkata.
