On December 9, 2015, IAC announced the formation of IAC Publishing, a new digital media operating entity which houses a collection of IAC's publishing brands including The Daily Beast, About.com, Investopedia and Dictionary.com. The new segment will reach more than 100 million US users per month. Doug Leeds, formerly the CEO of IAC-owned Ask.com, serves as the CEO of IAC Publishing.

Initial media coverage suggested IAC was signaling a shift towards publishing with the move and would invest heavily in this segment. The IAC Publishing properties The Daily Beast, About.com, Investopedia and Dictionary.com reached over $300 million combined in revenue in 2015.
