The Karachi financial city is the largest in the country, referred to as "Pakistan's Wall Street".

In 1963, Habib Bank Plaza was built on this street which remained the tallest building of Pakistan until 2005s.

In 2007 Sharjah-based Enshaa Holdings in a joint venture with NLC launched Karachi International Financial center on II Chundrigar road which would comprise a hotel, office towers, serviced apartments and a railway station. The Karachi Financial Towers would include two identical 37-storey towers connected by a three-floor glass skybridge. As of 2012, construction has been abandoned because of financial misappropriation and possible embezzlement.
