Premise
The song involves Medley addressing his wife, stating that despite all of the challenges that life has thrown in the way of the couple, that Medley is still committed to the marriage to which he agreed many years before. The song is fictional; Medley, an admitted womanizer, was not married at the time the song was released, and Medley had been through a divorce and two annulments at that point. He was likely inspired by his first wife, the former Karen O'Grady, who had divorced him due to his infidelity but remained close friends until her death.
