Overview

The music to "I'm Gonna Crawl" was, in large part, composed by John Paul Jones, prepared prior to recording at Polar Studios in Sweden on a Yamaha GX-1 synthesiser, with the verses in 12/8 time. The song tells of a girl that "drives me crazy... she's the apple of my eye. I love the lady. I got to be her fool."

Dave Lewis points to the influence of people such as Wilson Pickett, O.V. Wright, and Otis Redding with Pickett’s «It’s Too Late» as a reference point.

"I'm Gonna Crawl" was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts.

The song was performed during shows by Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience in 2011.
