Héctor Manuel Mendoza Ripoll (born March 5, 1994) is a Cuban professional baseball pitcher. He is a right- handed cuban professional baseball pitcher who is currently a free agent .

Career

Mendoza played with the Isla de la Juventud of the Cuban National Series from 2011 to 2015. He signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball from 2014 to 2016, becoming the first Cuban pitcher signing in the Nippon Professional League with only 20 years.

Mendoza won with his national team, the gold medal of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

He previously participated in the :

  1. 2009 Baseball World Cup (15-16 years) winning the title of best right- handed of the Cup.
  2. 2010 Pan American Games (15-16 years) winning the bronze medal .
  3. 2014 Mendoza won with his national team the gold medal of the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz Mexico.
  4. 2015 Is his second appearance with the Cuban National Team , won the title of best right-handed relief pitcher and gold medal in the Caribbean series.
  5. 2015 Toronto Pan American Games , Cuban Baseball Team won the Bronze Medal


On December 2, 2016 it was announced that Mendoza had been released by the Giants. After finishing his season in the Japanese league decides to change his route and not return to Cuba. Was declared a free agent in January 2017 and is now expected to receive a substantial contract from the MLB.
