Hydrochem is the longest-serving water treatment organisation in the North East, England. The business was set up in 1989 and founded by current Managing Director Bill Abbott. The organisation specialises in the detection, prevention and treatment of legionella and associated water treatment services.

History

The company was founded after Managing Director Bill Abbott, returned from working in the Middle East and noticed a gap in the technology the UK was using at the time. Since setting up the company has expanded into a headquarters based in Hartlepool’s Graythorpe Industrial Estate.

Hydrochem Today

The company now manufactures its own speciality chemicals that are formulated and designed for all sectors of the water treatment and allied industries.

Hydrochem also manufactures toll-blended formulas to clients specification for both the UK and export markets. In 2016 the company announced that it was to hit the £1m turnover mark for the first time in its history. The company also celebrated World Water Day in 2016 by launching a series of videos on its YouTube channel advising other businesses about the importance of water treatment.

Legionella Awareness Month

Due to its experience in the sector, Hydrochem set up Legionella Awareness Month in 2016 and will be hosting a series of events throughout 2017 to raise further awareness about the potentially deadly bacteria.

Specifications

The company complies to ISO 9001. Legionella Risk Assessments requirements adhering to the Health and Safety Executive Guide ACOP L8. Chemical cleaning is carried out by engineers at Hydrochem and all standards are followed to meet BSRIA BG29 and CIBSE.

Work in the Community

The business is the current sponsor of the Leven Whites junior football team, funding the teams kits and equipment.
