Hangul 환인 Revised Romanization Hwan-in | Hanja 桓因 McCune–Reischauer Hwan-in | |
Hwanin (Hangul: 환인, Hanja: 桓因), also pronounced "Han-in" 한인, or "Divine Regent" is a figure in Korean mythology. In the traditional Dangun mythology he is portrayed as the Emperor of Heaven himself, with his son Hwanung 환웅(桓雄) and his grandson Dangun 단군(檀君) being the mythical founder of Korea. Hwanin is also a name for Śakra in the Korean language, though they are not one and the same.
