Hungary was represented by Csaba Szigeti, with the song "Új név a régi ház falán", at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 13 May in Dublin. Hungarian broadcaster MTV chose the entry via internal selection.

At Eurovision

On the night of the final Szigeti performed 13th in the running order, following France and preceding Belgium. Coming as it did straight after Hungary's very successful Eurovision finals debut with "Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?", a subtle and appealing acoustic ballad which had proved very much to the taste of the national juries in 1994, most observers were rather taken aback by the nature of "Új név a régi ház falán", holding it both completely inappropriate for Eurovision audiences and juries in terms of style, with Szigeti's rasping vocals unlikely to prove a vote-winner either. It was rated as the 1995 contest's most likely nul-pointer, which proved to be nearly the case as at the close of voting "Új név a régi ház falán" had received only 3 points (2 from Russia and 1 from Spain), placing Hungary 22nd of the 23 entries, ahead only of Germany. The Hungarian jury awarded its 12 points to Cyprus.
