The Hungarian protests of 2011 were popular protests against the new constitution proposed by Viktor Orbán's supermajority Fidesz party in the Hungarian parliamentary election, 2010, which came into force on 1 January 2012.
There were two large protests in Budapest, one on 17 March and another on 30 December, at which protesters chanted slogans denouncing Orbán, and carried placards denouncing his "dictatorship".
The protests against the constitution included appeals for freedom of religion and a flat 16% income tax.
