House of Echoes

House of Echoes is a historical fiction ghost story novel by Barbara Erskine, published by HarperCollins in November 1996. When an adopted woman, Joss Grant, inherits a stately manor, Belheddon Hall, she is delighted, and moves herself and her young family to the East Anglian coast. Things quickly go awry as paranormal activity plagues the family, keeping them awake long into the night. Joss researches her family's tragic and dramatic history in order to quell the spirits, but she finds herself beholden to a violent and powerful force that seems beyond her control.
