Honeybees (Chinese: 蜜蜂; literally: "Bees") are consumed as a food in parts of China, including Yunnan. It is considered a Chinese delicacy; according to a worker at a Yunnan-based specialty restaurant, the bees are best served "deep-fried with salt and pepper". Kellie Schmitt of CNN described the dish as one of "Shanghai's weirdest foods".

Preparation
Most commonly consumed in Yunnan, honeybees in that area are difficult to find, and one has to venture far in order to find them. A worker at a Yunnan-based honeybees restaurant claims that the bees are best served "deep-fried with salt and pepper", and goes on to describe the dish as "naturally sweet and tasty".
