The Hola water course begins at lake Nordersjøen (762 m above sea level) running southeast through Drengen, Asmaren, Stikkilen and Storsjøen.

Hodalen chapel was built in 1936.

In the 18th century there were trials between the village and farmers from Tynset concerning fishing rights in the lakes.

North of the village towers Håmmålsfjellet (Hummelfjellet), and south of the valley lies the mountain range of Raudsjøheimen including Tynset and Brydalen.
