History of Political Thought first appeared in the spring of 1980. It is a journal dedicated to interdisciplinary political studies.
It is published in Exeter, England by Imprint Academic. Originally it was published three times a year and since 1989 quarterly.
It was co-founded the historians Iain Hampsher-Monk and Janet Coleman.
It has been ranked as an A* journal by the Australian Political Studies Association.
