Hirota Satsuma equation is a set of three coupled nonlinear partial differential equations:

u t 0.5 u x x x + 3 u u x 3 ( v w ) x = 0 v t + v x x x 3 u v x = 0 w t + w x x x 3 u w x = 0

Hirota-Satsuma equation appeared in the theory of shallow water waves, first discussed by Hirota, Ryogo; Satsuma, Junkichi in 1976.

Hirota-Satsuma equation has multiple soliton solutions and traveling wave solutions.
