Hirasea acutissima was endemic to Haha-jima in the Ogasawara Islands, Japan.
Hirasea acutissima is listed as endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
Hirasea acutissima species is considered to be extinct by Chiba et al. (2007).
