The House Higher Education Committee is a 17 member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and 14 members. The Committee operates under a House mandate to evaluate legislation affecting the University System of Georgia.

Scope and jurisdiction

The House Higher Education Committee is responsible for all legislation that influences the University System of Georgia including all universities, colleges, and programs of post-secondary education. The committee also has jurisdiction over the administration of student financial aid throughout the state.
