This article details the history of Hibernian F.C. in European football competitions. Hibs were the first ever British club to enter a major European footballing competition, doing so in the first ever season of the European Cup. Hibs have lost on four occasions to a club that went on to win the competition they were participating in, and have themselves reached the quarter-final of competitions on five occasions. The club played many of the major clubs during the 1960s and 1970s on an almost annual basis, but have qualified for European competition much less frequently since then.
