Heretaunga is a suburb of Upper Hutt located in the lower North Island of New Zealand. The suburb was established in the 1840s. It takes its name from the Māori name for the nearby Hutt River, named after a Hawke's Bay district. It is directly next to the suburb of Silverstream, and the two are commonly thought to be merged. It is served by Heretaunga Railway Station.

Heretaunga is a Māori name, and here means "to tie up", and taunga literally means "to be at home", i.e. it is a mooring place for canoes.
