Hereford Cathedral School Chamber Choir has been in existence for many years. Since September 2006 the choir has been directed by Neil Moore, Assistant Director of Music at the cathedral school. Entry is by audition and all members are required to sing in the larger Chapel Choir. The choir, around 20 strong, evolves with each new year and has a continually rolling membership. Although it is not compulsory, most of the singers have singing lessons.

In the academic year 2006-07 the choir won Choir of the Year at the local music festival and also the first ever Elgar in Hereford Young Musicians' Award. They also went on a tour to Paris and sang in Notre Dame and La Madeleine. In July 2007, the choir recorded a CD God is gone up, which includes some of their repertoire from the year.

In the academic year 2007-08 the choir continues to flourish. The choir participated in the Area Selection round of the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year 2008 in Basingstoke, was named Choir of the Day, and will now progress to the National Selection round in June. They toured Edinburgh in July for a weekend singing in St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral and St Giles' Cathedral.

The choir eventually made it to the Category Final, narrowly missing out on a place in the Grand Final. The panel on judges commented that the choir had fantastic balance, spot-on vocals and very well disciplined.

In July 2009 the choir returned to Paris, singing in some of the most breathtaking churches. You can read more about this by clicking this link http://www.herefordcs.com/index.php/news/hcs-news/320-hcs-chamber-choir-tour-of-paris-july-2009-mk2

They have just recorded a second CD which is soon to be released.
