Hennediella heimii is found in saline environments such as coastal salt marshes, and in recent times on the verges of roads salted to prevent icing.
This moss is also found in Antarctica. It is widespread on Ross Island and Southern Victoria Land where it is a medium to large moss that grows three to five centimeters high.
