Zamalek Stadium, also known as Helmy Zamora Stadium, is a multi-use stadium in Cairo, Egypt. The stadium was named in honour of Mohammed Hassan Helmy, the former player and president of Zamalek. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home of Zamalek before they moved to Cairo International Stadium because of the small capacity. The stadium held 20,000 and was as high as 40,000 before capacity controls were put in place.

Zamalek disaster

1974 saw a deadly crush at a Zamalek game, as at least 48 people attending the friendly game against Czechoslovak club Dukla Prague were killed in a stampede at the Helmi Zamora Stadium.
