Track listing

The album was re-issued on February 14, 2015 by UDR. Disc 1 is identical to the original release. All tracks from Disc 2 were recorded live at the Bloodstock Heavy Metal Festival on August 10, 2014.

Lyrical concepts

  1. "Crusader" is about the warriors of the Crusades.
  2. "Dallas 1 PM" is about the assassination of John Kennedy.
  3. "Princess of the Night" is about the death of the age of steam, written by Byford after watching trains at Denby Dale railway station.
  4. "Wheels of Steel" is about the band's '68 Chevy they used to drive to each show in (see Strong Arm of the Law for another track that involves said car).
  5. "Denim and Leather" is about the evolution of the new wave of British heavy metal; the title a nod to the attire worn by Saxon's fans.
  6. "Never Surrender" is about determination.
  7. "And the Bands Played On" is about the inaugural Monsters of Rock festival.
  8. "Power and the Glory" is about the power and the glory of battle.
