Heather J. Forster Smith is the current Chief Justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Appointed in 2002, she is the first woman to be appointed to that bench.

Smith graduated from Queen's University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1973 and began her legal career as a Crown prosecutor with the federal Department of Justice.

Beginning in 1983 she began her judicial career:
