Hawthorne-El Segundo was a route of the Pacific Electric Railway, constructed in 1914. El Segundo began as a company town for Standard Oil, and was primarily used to deliver gasoline to the Southern Pacific main line. Due to low passenger usage, revenue service ended in 1935, but freight service continues to this day.
