The second and final season of the television comedy series Happily Divorced began airing on March 7, 2012 on TV Land in the United States. The season consisted of 24 episodes and aired in the United States on Wednesdays at 10:30pm following Hot in Cleveland.

Cast and characters

The series focuses on Fran Lovett (Fran Dresher) a Los Angeles florist who finds out her husband Peter (John Michael Higgins), to whom she has been married for eighteen years, is gay. Naturally, they get a divorce but, because of their tight financial situation and the depressed real estate market, they continue to live in the same house together. Other prominent characters in the series include Fran's mother Dori (Rita Moreno), Fran's father Glenn (Robert Walden), Fran's best friend Judi (Tichina Arnold), and Fran's employee Cesar (Valente Rodriguez).

Recurring characters in season two include Fran's on-off boyfriend Elliot (D. W. Moffett), Dori's and Glenn's neighbor Marilyn (Renée Taylor), and Fran's and Peter's new next-door neighbor Neil (Harry Van Gorkum). Guest stars include Fran's college nemesis Jill (Morgan Fairchild); Marilyn's mother Mrs. Kapelmaster (Ann Guilbert); Fran's adventure-date Adam (John Schneider); Fran's high school friend Katy O'Grady (Rosie O'Donnell); Fran's cat-loving blind date who winds up being Elliot's therapist Harold (Dan Aykroyd); Cesar's wife Teresa (Judy Reyes), pizza parlor owner from New York and Fran's new love Frankie (Ralph Macchio), Elliot's father (Robert Wagner) and mother (Florence Henderson), Marilyn's daughter Kiki (Cyndi Lauper), Peter's sister Peggy (Molly Shannon), a potential new roommate for Fran and Peter named Jan (Debi Mazar), Peter's new boyfriend Chris (Colin Ferguson), and Judi's ex-boyfriend Tony (Keenen Ivory Wayans). Joan Collins also recurred as a fictional version of herself.

Production

On April 29, 2012 TV Land announced that Happily Divorced would be picked up for an additional twelve episodes for season two. The first twelve episodes aired from March 7, 2012 through to June 6, 2012. The second twelve episodes of season two premiered on November 28, 2012. Taping of the additional 12 episodes began October 5, 2012.
